Wow, I am surprised that I never listened to this band. Gothic metal at its finest: punchy drums, blissful vocals, groovy bass and catchy riffs. This album also has some punk elements but I think that they are the weakest side of the album. I am really looking forward to listen to other projects by this band. A true surprise on this album is the cover song "Summer Breeze." Originally released in 1972 by Seals & Crofts, this cover is definitely not something that you would think to hear from Type O Negative, but it is an excellent cover! Peter Steele's deep voice lends something to the song that the original version just didn't have. Type O Negative may be known now as an atmospheric doom metal outfit, but before going Gothic Peter Steele and company released this classic thrash album that smacked more of Peter's old band Carnivore than the band that recorded "Bloody Kisses" and "October Rust."
